Hartwell, Georgia is situated in Northeast Georgia, positioned just north of Atlanta. It is bordered by Lake Hartwell and the state of South Carolina. The county of Hart is dedicated to Nancy Hart, an esteemed Revolutionary War heroine, making it the sole county in Georgia named after a woman.
Established in 1856, Hartwell is home to more than 5600 individuals within the city limits and has a county-wide population of 26,000 full-time residents.
Hartwell has a significant presence in agricultural production, with major companies such as Nestle Purina being the primary employers.
Hartwell is enriched by a diverse range of non-profit organizations, making it an excellent city to live in.

Many visitors are attracted to Lake Hartwell to explore the six counties surrounding it. With 962 miles of shoreline, Lake Hartwell is considered one of the largest man-made lakes in the southern region.
