Backyard FUN!

When you plan your holiday festivities and celebrate our country's independence, remember that the USA was once a rebellious state whose founding fathers fought for independence. It is predicted that Americans will spend over $9.5 billion on food for the 4th.

I remember days at the lake with my family. Potato salad, BBQ chicken, and pasta salads were a must. My Grandmother Florence made a unique Beer Dip for the lake for all to enjoy. Raymond has fond memories of his father grilling chicken for Kingswood (Athens, GA) neighborhood picnics.

I wish everyone a wonderful holiday weekend. Below is Florence's Beer Dip recipe and Rays' marinade for grilled chicken.

Flo's Beer Dip

1/2 can beer

1- 8 oz block of cream cheese

small onion can use dried onion soup mix

Set out cream cheese so it can soften. stir in 1/2 can any beer and add chopped onion or dried French onion soup mix. Serve with chips

Ray's Marinade for Grilled Chicken

In a ziploc bag, add uncooked chicken with 1 cup vegetable or olive oil, squeezed lemon, and 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. Add a dash of salt and pepper. Place the refrigerator for 24 hours ( don't skip this). Grill chicken on the outside grill until cooked. ENJOY.
